HOUSING AND LAND:
The right to adequate
housing is found in a number of human rights instruments,
including the UN Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural
Rights as well as the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.
It provides that housing should:
1. Provide security of tenure
2. Provide access to necessary services such as water and
sanitation
3. Be affordable
4. Be habitable
5. Be accessible for those with disabilities or other
obstacles
6. Be appropriately located
7. Be culturally sensitive
